Stripe Connect Setup
General Wisdom uses Stripe Connect to handle provider payouts. Setting up Stripe Connect links your bank account to the platform so you can receive your share of session revenue.
Prerequisites
- An organization with Provider status
- Provider Agreement accepted
- Owner or Admin role in your organization
- Business information ready (legal name, address, tax ID)
How Payouts Work
User spends SMART tokens → Session revenue accrues → Monthly payout → Your bank account
- Users spend SMART tokens to launch sessions in your application.
- Your 70% revenue share accrues throughout the month.
- On the 15th of each month, General Wisdom initiates a payout for the previous month.
- Funds arrive in your bank account within 2-5 business days (depending on your bank and country).
Step 1: Start the Stripe Connect Onboarding
- Navigate to
/developer/settings/payouts. - Click Connect with Stripe.
- You are redirected to Stripe's hosted onboarding flow.
The Stripe onboarding flow is entirely hosted by Stripe. General Wisdom never sees your bank account details, tax documents, or identity verification data.
Step 2: Complete Stripe Onboarding
Stripe asks for the following information:
Business Information

Identity Verification
Depending on your country and business type, Stripe may require:
- Government-issued ID (passport, driver's license)
- Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement)
- Business registration documents (Articles of Incorporation, EIN letter)
Bank Account

For non-US providers, Stripe supports international bank transfers in 40+ countries. The onboarding flow adapts to your country's requirements.
Tax Information
- US Providers: Provide your EIN (business) or SSN (individual). Stripe files 1099 forms on your behalf.
- International Providers: Provide your tax identification number. Stripe handles withholding where required by treaty.
Step 3: Verify Connection
After completing the Stripe onboarding:
- You are redirected back to General Wisdom.
- The Payouts page shows your connection status.
- A green checkmark indicates successful connection.

Step 4: Configure Payout Preferences
After connection, configure your preferences:
- Navigate to
/developer/settings/payouts. - Set your preferred payout currency (if your bank supports multiple).
- Set a minimum payout amount (default: $10 USD equivalent).
- Enable or disable payout email notifications.
Payout Schedule

| Revenue accrual period | 1st through last day of each month |
| Payout calculation | 1st of following month |
| Payout initiation | 15th of following month |
| Funds arrive | 2-5 business days after initiation |
Example: Sessions sold in January are calculated on February 1st, payout initiated on February 15th, and funds arrive by February 20th.
Viewing Payout History
Track your earnings and payouts:
- Navigate to
/developer/analytics/payouts. - View monthly breakdown of:
- Total sessions sold
- Gross token revenue
- Your 70% share
- Platform fee (30%)
- Net payout amount
- Payout status and date
Export payout history as CSV for your accounting records.
Handling Payout Issues
Payout Failed
If a payout fails (usually due to invalid bank details):
- You receive an email notification.
- The amount rolls over to the next payout cycle.
- Update your bank details in Stripe: click Manage Stripe Account at
/developer/settings/payouts. - The next scheduled payout includes the failed amount.
Updating Bank Details
- Navigate to
/developer/settings/payouts. - Click Manage Stripe Account.
- You are redirected to the Stripe dashboard where you can update bank details.
Tax Document Access
Access your tax documents (1099, etc.) through the Stripe dashboard:
- Click Manage Stripe Account at
/developer/settings/payouts. - Navigate to Documents in the Stripe dashboard.
- Download tax forms as needed.
Supported Countries
Stripe Connect supports payouts to providers in 40+ countries. If your country is not supported, contact provider-support@generalwisdom.com to discuss alternatives.
Security
- General Wisdom uses Stripe Connect's Standard account type. You own your Stripe account.
- General Wisdom never has access to your bank account details.
- All financial data is handled by Stripe under PCI DSS Level 1 compliance.
- You can disconnect your Stripe account at any time (pending payouts are still processed).
